Frequently Asked Questions

All you need to know about RYOBI.

What can I buy directly from you?

Spare parts and accessories are available directly from our service centres.

What is a demo unit?

These are products which have been used for demonstration purposes or are out of packaging and cannot be supplied for sale through the normal retail trade. These products have been tested, are in working order and are still subject to a one year guarantee.

Where can I take my machine for repair?

We have a Service Centre in Cape Town and Durban that will gladly accept any RYOBI machine for repair. Our head offices in Midrand, Gauteng, also accept any RYOBI machine for repair. Apart from that there are a few accredited independent service centres dotted around the country. Alternatively many Ryobi Stockists will gladly assist in getting the machine back to the closest service
centre in order to get it repaired.

How long does a repair take?

Our goal is to have the best after sales service in the industry and our target is a 48-72 hour turnaround on all repairs.

Where can I find spares - my local hardware store doesn't stock what I need?

You can order the spares from many RYOBI Stockists, or visit us directly. We have all the spares of any RYOBI machine (We can’t guarantee this for machines that have been discontinued for more than 3 year).

I want to stock your products in my store, how?

Contact us at info@ryobi.co.za or call us directly. We will be happy to assist in helping you open an account with us

My chain saw or trimmer does not want to start?

To start the unit: Prime the bulb about 6 to 7 times. Pull the chain brake back, to release it (Chain Saw only). Activate the choke and pull the unit about 3 times until it sounds as if it wants to start. Press and hold the throttle and pull to start. The unit usually starts within 2 pulls.

What oil can I use for my 4-stroke generator?

You can use any Multi-grade or SAE 40.

Is there a specific 2-stroke oil that I need to buy for my unit?

Normal 2-stroke oil will work.
