Following on from the success of Kirsten Landman’s Road to the Dakar Rally series, and Map1mp1 – the story of hope in a hopeless place, RYOBI is embarking on a new campaign to tell the stories of ‘won’t quit’ individuals.
As the makers of power tools that won’t quit, the desire to support people that embody this characteristic in everything they do inspired the creation of the #WontQuitCrew.
Launched this month, the #WontQuitCrew is essentially a mentoring platform for the benefit of up and coming local sports stars. Bryan Habana our honorary captain, sets the example for a team of mentors that are both accomplished and dedicated to developing future generations.
First up we have Amanda Dlamini, ex-Banyana Banyana captain who represented her country more than 100 times with two appearances at the Olympic Games. She is hugely passionate about sharing her journey and the experiences she has gained for the next generation of female football stars.
Kevin Lerena is a genuine heavyweight world title contender as a boxer having already held international belts at Cruiserweight. Still very much in his prime, he is always thinking big picture and for him that means trying to bring others up with him as he rises to the top of his sport.
Then wrapping up the trio is Akona Ndungane, ex-Springbok and now prominent rugby broadcaster. He played a key role in a golden period of SA Rugby when the all-conquering Bulls were perhaps the strongest franchise team in the world. He is a product of a supportive and inspiring system, and is looking to share gained insights and experiences to those that need it most.
The mentors are looking for up and coming stars in all sporting codes, be it from a team or individual environment. Entry consists of creating a MatchKit profile so each athlete can be assessed by sporting prowess and from a content and audience perspective. Once complete they then need to share their profile URLs via a social media post with #WontQuitCrew.
Our mentors are looking for individuals truly looking to go the extra mile, those who have a great deal of belief in their careers, and ultimately have what it takes to be a natural part of the #WontQuitCrew
