The penultimate episode of the 2023 RYOBI #WontQuitCrew is certainly a larger than life one. It introduces you to IFBB pro bodybuilder Sibusiso Kotelo.
Born and raised in KZN, Sibusiso was your general sporty South African. But a chance meeting at his local gym one day was to forever change that.
It was clear from the beginning that Sibusiso had the natural frame and genetic disposition to make a name for himself in the pro bodybuilding ranks. But this was very much just the start of the journey and where the hard work began. Teaming up with head coach Jack Lotter put the wheels in motion from there, with the goals being set to reach the top. But bodybuilding isn’t like any other sport out there. Reaching the top is a relentless lifestyle of sacrifice and never quitting. Something that brings with it endless challenges you can’t always be prepared for.
At this stage of the game, being the first black South African to earn his pro card in the elite echelons of bodybuilding, he could of course call it a day knowing he has already achieved more than ever imaginable.
But that is not his nature. Sibusiso and his team are committed to the goal of Mr Olympia, the biggest of all the stages. And when you consider the literal body of work he has created to this point, and his relentless hunger for more, you can’t help but believe in him.
We wish him well as he scales the highest of highs ahead, and know that with his incredible ‘Won’t Quit’ attitude, he will soon be spoken about with the absolute greats from Arnold Schwarzenegger to Ronnie Coleman.
